Brave Mancunians were on the road again for a second time in a month. Unfortunately they lost in North Wales on a Warm Sunday afternoon in Deeside. Mancunians played their second game away after it was switched due to no availability in Manchester.
Taking the court for the game were Peter Hurst and Dave Abel and Antony Stewart made his debut, sadly exam revision ruled out Alexander.
Our side was bolstered by the loaning from the Welsh side of Mason, Bex and Stuart and their stand in manager Harry.
This fixture saw a few of the players from the National Wales team involved with the hosts.
The captain for the Game was Peter Hurst who greeted the Match Officials and opposition before the game and also elected to receive the ball after the coin toss.
We received a warm and friendly Welsh welcome.
A lightening start from North Wales saw them take the lead within the first 20 minutes. Three tries lofted the scoreline to 14-0. There were several missed chances from Mancunians after this and the hosts deepened the score. With the clock showing 15 minutes of the first left, things slowly changed and Mancs showed signs of resurgence and made the score 50-14.
The second half saw North Wales tamed by Mancunians during a spell of possession.
However the score changed quickly to 68-18.
Efforts on ball were massive but despite scoring a few tries there were missed conversions from Hurst and Stewart.
In the last few minutes of the game Mancunians scored again, however Peter couldn’t add the extras. The game ended 86-22.
Hurst was asked to give his Man of the Match for North Wales and chose Mason, who excelled throughout.
North Wales chose Antony Stewart for Mancunians as their man of the match for his lightening quick tackles.
Our next game is Saturday 2nd June vs Mersey Storm. Kick off TBC and will be played at Powerleague Trafford.
